Read the following information. Answer the questions at the end of the fact description. This is a decision making question so the basis of your answer will come from Chapter 10. The better answers will use the jargon from the book.
You are about to graduate with an accounting degree and your goal is to get a job as an entry level accountant at a public accounting firm. You are a strong student from a nationally recognized accounting program. You will have no problem getting a job. You have the following criteria for your job search:
· Requirement 1: The accounting firm must have more than 50 employees (there are 2500 firms in the US that meet this criteria). All firms accept applications online.
· Requirement 2: The accounting firm must have a 401 K in which there is a dollar for dollar match up to 5% of the employee’s salary (not known from website).
· Requirement 3: The accounting firm must have pay for continuing education (not known from website).
· Requirement 4: Your minimum starting salary requirement is $75,000/year (not known from the website.
· Requirement 5: Relaxed atmosphere (you know this when you feel it; this is not a cookie cutter requirement but you want the best atmosphere possible)
Assume the following:
· You send resumes to 2500 firms.
· You receive offers to interview from 1000 firms.
· You start setting up interviews and subsequently you start interviewing.
Assume further the following would happen if you went through with all of these interviews:

· Interview 2 – no job offer
· Interview 3 – Meets all job requirements except pay is $70,000

· Interview 47 – Meets all job requirements except 1 but pay is $95,000
· Interview 48 – 73- no job offer but each have a great atmosphere
· Interview 74 – Meets all job requirements except 1 but pay is $95,000
· Interview 75 – Meets all job requirements and pay is $90,000
· The above pattern repeats for interviews 76-1000
Part A: At which point do you accept a job? Which decision-making model did you use to reach this decision? Explain how this model applies to this situation. Explain why the other two models do not apply.
Part B: Base your answer to this question on the job you selected in Part A (Job Selected). After you sent your application to the Job Selected, news breaks that the Job Selected has pled guilty to a major financial crime and will be fined a significant amount of money. You are morally outraged by the behavior of the individuals at the Job Selected. Because of the negative publicity, the Job Selected offers a $10,000 bonus to you to entice you to accept the job offer. Do you accept the job offer at the Job Selected? Explain.
Requirements:
· Format – This assignment should not exceed 2 pages (double spaced, 12 point type, 1 inch margins, Times Roman Font) excluding any title page, references and appendices. I will stop reading and grading at the end of the second page. If you do not follow format requirements, I will reformat by changing the type, margins and the spacing. However, I will not make any other changes to ensure that the page requirement is met. For example, I will not remove extra spacing between paragraphs. I will not make any attempt to calculate how much space footnotes are utilizing. In addition, you with lose 4 points if you fail to follow the formatting instructions. No Exceptions!

· Submission – The case should be submitted through Canvas. I will not accept assignments in class (the assignment would be late and I do not accept late assignments). I will not accept the assignment through email. The assignment is due December 4, 2018 by 5:55 p.m. (note that this means if you submit your paper 1 second after 5:55p.m., it is late). Late assignments will not be accepted. No Exceptions!
