Now you have the opportunity to implement this connection in real-life. This week you will need to create a targeted resumé. A targeted resumé is simply a resumé that is targeted to a specific job. For this assignment, you need to locate a job ad for a position you would be interested in once you graduate. Using the ad you will then prepare a targeted resumé. You will then use technology to evaluate how closely your targeted resumé aligns with the job ad. Your final step will require you to upload your assignment to the Career Services intranet as a means of connecting you with this department. Part 1: The Targeted Resumé Your targeted resumé must include the following components: Personal information Including name and contact information An introductory section with a Target Job Title and Qualification/Professional Summary that reflects the student’s skills and experiences relative to the job description. Education history A skill summary that includes both technical and transferable skills Work experience that is summarized by using achievement statements, not task lists. For this summarize your work experience in four to five points under each position held, focusing on concrete, measurable accomplishments. You will need to provide a screenshot of a score of 70% or higher, saved as either a Word or PDF file, to the Week 8 Dropbox to verify that you completed this step. If you do not receive a 70% rating or higher on your first submission, please revise until you do. Submit your targeted resumé, the O*Net-Soc Auto Coder screen shot, and a copy of the job ad to the Dropbox Part 2: Career Service Activity – The Verification Process Once you complete your targeted resumé you must now upload a copy to the HireDeVry website. You will also receive a Graduate Registration Form via email through DocuSign from Career Services this week. You must complete this form and return it as instructed in the email. Once you complete these final two steps you will need to contact your Career Advisor so they can verify that they received these two forms. They will then provide you with a Completion Verification Code that you must enter into the comment section of the Dropbox, when you submit your Part 1 components. ***Please note that the Career Services Office is not open on the weekend. This means you must reach out to the Career Services Office early in the week so you receive the verification code needed for this assignment. Your resumé should have appropriate headings and design elements (e.g., white space, bold, underline, italics, varying font sizes***) to improve readability.
