As a nurse practitioner in Mississippi, I have recognized the need for a change in health care policy regarding access to care for rural and underserved populations. Rural areas in Mississippi often have limited access to healthcare facilities, medical professionals, and resources. Additionally, many of the populations residing in these areas are economically disadvantaged and lack the resources to travel long distances to receive healthcare. This can result in delays in care, exacerbation of medical conditions, and ultimately, poorer health outcomes.
