Part 1: Essay

In a well-developed essay, explain the impacts that cash budgeting has on working capital. What are some of the resources that health care organizations can use for short-term financing? Be sure to explain your response using evidence and detail.

Legacy Home Health LLC is a for-profit health care organization. They have $1,500,000 replacement funds set aside to open an additional office before closing the old one. The agency’s current accumulated depreciation on the funds is $2,000,000 and the average age of an office is 15 years. It is assumed that capital assets for the agency inflating at 5% each year. What cash balance does the agency need to have set aside today to meet their replacement needs without using debt financing?

Unit VI Article Critique

Conduct a search using the CSU Online Library and locate an article that focuses on the course content. Ideally, your article of choice should cover a health care organization’s financial management decisions and be no more than five years old.

After reviewing the article, analyze the information and decisions made by that organization. Did they make the most effective decisions? Where may they have fallen short? Were there any factors that influenced the outcome that were outside of the organization’s control?

Here are some possible topic options:

• Retirement benefits for employees
• Sinking funds
• Expansion/investment opportunities
• Effects of interest rates
• Effects of the early 2000s economic crisis

Your Article Critique should include:

• An introduction
• A summary of the main points
• Your analysis o            Positive decisions made by the organization o    Negative decisions

o    Factors outside of the organization’s control

• A conclusion

For your final assignment of the course, create 15- to 17-slide PowerPoint presentation that describes the use health care technology and the financial implications it may have on health organizations’ administrative and operational costs as well as the pros and cons of implementing such new technology. Be sure to include a discussion on the budgeting process and the impact budgeting has on technology capital expenditure.

Your presentation should meet the following requirements:

• A title slide that includes your name, date, and instructor name
• Detailed speaker notes
• At least three outside sources that are included on a reference slide.
• Examples of how these concepts are applied
• APA format
• An introduction and conclusion
• Appropriate backgrounds, visuals, and graphics
