In Chapter 6 of your International Trade textbook, there is a segment on page 184 celebrating that the North American

Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) turns 15 years old. The article appears in Chapter 6, but please consider both Chapters

5 and 6 when writing your essay. Conduct some research to determine if NAFTA has lived up to all the claims laid out in the 1990s.

Offshoring

In Chapter 7 of your International Trade textbook, on page 226 there is a Headlines reading titled “How to Destroy American Jobs.”  Please read the story and add to this any research from the CSU Online Library about offshoring or outsourcing.

Argue against the article’s premise that multinational corporations are moving jobs out of the U.S. and destroying American Jobs. Also, keep in mind the premise that these corporations should be taxed as a result of this offshoring practice. Make your argument for the practice of offshoring, outsourcing and why this is good for American jobs.

In Chapter 8 of your International Trade textbook, there is an application of the material on pages 251 – 256 where you are to apply what you have learned from this chapter to U.S. tariffs on steel and tires.

In this application, please provide a detailed step by step account and then make your decision. Consider that the U.S. government did act a certain way but please apply if you would act the same way or differently and explain why in this case study assignment.

In Chapter 9 of your International Trade textbook, there is a Headlines article on page 310 about the solar energy industry in Europe and their effort to impose anti-dumping tariffs on China to protect this industry.

Please read the article and assess if this effort by the European Union has merit and whether or not it will be effective. If you deem that the effort would not be effective, explain what you would do differently and why. Also, through additional research, please explain if the solar energy industry is an infant industry and if there would be any additional protections that you would come up with for the European Union.
