Goal 1: will learn and be able to complete physical exams for all ages throughout the lifespan.
Objectives:
- By week 2 will have observed the preceptor complete physical exams on all age groups throughout the lifespan from newborn to geriatric.
- By week 4 will be able to describe, demonstrate, and perform physical exams on all age groups throughout the lifespan from newborn to geriatric.
- By week 6 will be able to independently perform a physical exam on all ages throughout the lifespan from newborn to geriatric.
- By week 8 will be able to document a normal physical exam and abnormal findings for all age groups throughout the lifespan from newborn to geriatric.
Goal 2: Will be able demonstrate competency in performing a neurological exam.
Objectives:
- By week 2 will be able to select all material needed for a complete neurological exam.
- By week 4 will be able to demonstrate a neurological exam.
- By week 6 will be able to describe, perform, and document a normal neurological exam and abnormal findings of neurological exam.
Goal 3: Will be able to manage diabetes
Objectives:
- Will know difference between diabetes management of Type I and Type II.
- Will be able to follow guidelines for diabetes treatment
- Will know how to initiate diabetes treatments
- Will know the labs to order for diabetes
- Will know when to initiate or discontinue metformin-give numbers
- Will know first line therapy-list med
- Will be able to perform diabetic foot exam
- Will know when to refer
Goal 4: Will be able to apply appropriate treatment for headache
Objectives:
- Will know the questions for obtaining headache hx
- Will know the RED FLAGS to look for when evaluating headache
- Will know diagnostic criteria for cluster HA, tension HA, migraines
- Will know when to order further testing
- Will know when to refer to specialist
Goal 5: Will be able to initiate appropriate treatment of Hypertension
- Will review JNC guidelines for HTN management
- Will be able to apply appropriate treatment plans based on co-morbidities according to JNC guidelines
Goal 6: Will be apply to apply appropriate treatment for Hyperlipidemia
Goal 7: Will be able to apply appropriate treatment for COPD, asthma, UTI, URI, sinusitis, etc
